Developing cutting devices for composite materials by Japanese manufacturer

Switching from a foreign-made to Sonotec Ultrasonic cutter resulted in significant cost and time improvements. In addition, Sonotec were flexible in accommodating our efforts to improve quality.
Challenges faced before adopting the product
Developing in-house transducer requires time and money.
- Special-order products from other manufacturers are costly.
- Emailing of drawing to overseas is time consuming because of the time difference.
- There are no facilities for test cuts in Japan
Time and money are required every maintenance because of overseas products
- Because it was overseas product, time and money were required to send maintenance personnel there for every maintenance as well as breakage.
Solutions using Sonotec ultrasonic cutter
Shifting from overseas-made to Japanese-made products.
Existing processing machines were made overseas. Switching to a domestic-made machine eliminated the need to have maintenance personnel sent from overseas, saving considerable time and money. In addition, we were able to produce a proprietary transducer customized to our needs.
